Swing & Country Social Dances

September 26 : Swing & Country Social Dances

To bring the dance community together and to help our students improve their partner dance skills, beginning Saturday, September 26th, we'll be hosting Swing & Country social dances at the HUB Gymnasium (Cowichan Station). Scheduled for the first and last Saturday of every month, these dances are a chance to take what you’ve learned in class and try it “in the wild”—with real music, different dance partners, a lively social atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence through practice.

🕖 7:00–9:30 PM

$15 per person cash at the door (or email us for alternative arrangements)

✨ Includes a dance lesson!

The lessons before each Saturday dance will introduce new dances and beyond-beginner moves, giving our more experienced students something fresh to learn while continuing to support newer dancers. Our goal is to create a welcoming dance community where you can learn, practice, connect, and keep growing—both in class and on the social dance floor!

Dreamers & Schemers

On Stage Featuring 3 Amazing True Stories From Vancouver Island’s Past

The Mill Bay/Malahat Historical Society’s live theatre production, presented by the Seeds & Salt Theatre Co., brings history to life with uproarious comedy, toe tapping music and unforgettable stories.

Major James Lennox MacFarlane and his Malahat Mania: A hilarious story of an Irish rogue and rebel whose friends and family thought was “crazy as a loon” for attempting something the government said was impossible. Responding with, “Bah, Government Bureaucrats they’re as thick as manure but not half as useful”, MacFarlane’s obstinance defied everyone and got the Malahat Road built.

Minnie Paterson, the Heroine of Cape Beale: A moving story of how a young lighthouse keeper’s wife risked her own life in a heroic battle to single handedly rescue the crew of a sinking ship off the remote west coast of Vancouver Island.

Painless Parker and His Dashing Dental Circus: The uproarious story of how an inept dentist, who pulled 357 teeth in one day, created an outrageous circus act to attract patients and make millions, only to have it all come crashing down.

Seating is limited! To reserve tickets & pay cash at the door email Info@millbaymalahathistory.com

RE-FRESH Kids Block Printing Workshop

Kids ages 6-8 will learn how to design, carve and hand-stamp their own custom graphics to give their old clothes a brand-new second life. Dig through your closet for items that are stained, faded or just need a “cool” upgrade. All art supplies are provided!

Cost: $45
Duration: 1.5 hours

What to bring — 1-2 items you wish to refresh. Cotton is best. Some examples are t-shirts, hoodies, canvas tote bags or denim jackets. Materials for printing patches will be provided.

What to wear — clothes that can get messy!
